Our leadership
The European English Aglow is led by three strong women of God. At the helm is our Sharmila Geldermans, our Director, Helen Amos, Assistant Director, and Kathy Wilhenburg, Finance Assistant to Sharmila.
Sharmila Geldermans-Peter
Director
Sharmila is a gentle woman of pure and effective prayer, heartfelt worship and vital, enduring service. She has a remarkable “With the Lord I can!” approach to all she puts her hand to – a true woman of faith.
Raised in a Roman Catholic family in her native Sri Lanka, Sharmila was introduced to a Catholic charismatic prayer group as a teenager. This was a turning point for her personal faith as she experienced the renewal of a Spirit-filled walk with the Lord. After marrying her Dutch husband, Martin, in Sri Lanka, she relocated with him to the Netherlands.
Arriving in The Netherlands, she discovered an English-speaking Aglow group in her neighborhood. Aglow became a spiritual home, connecting her with women from different denominations and national backgrounds, either living in or passing through Europe. Sharmila’s vision is to call forth, equip and prepare the Bride of Christ in the ministry of Aglow.
Sharmila lives in the Dutch city of Leidschendam with her husband Martin and their three children. She is a member of the Glorious Global Church of Prophet Jerome Fernando Ministries.
Helen Amos
Assistant Director
Helen loves seeing God at work in transforming peoples’ lives, strongholds being broken and His amazing grace overflowing in the lives of people. Her vision is Heaven breaking forth on earth with mighty power, healing and deliverance.
She believes that God has been like an umbrella over her, growing her in knowledge and love of Him all through her life right from her childhood in India. She was drawn to Aglow almost as soon as she arrived in the Netherlands in 2006 and has experienced it as an oasis of welcome to an expat.
She lives in the beautiful small Dutch city, Veldhoven with her husband Bala Asirvatham, and they have a daughter who is married and a son studying at a university in the Netherlands. She also works as a professional Leadership and Transition Coach working people across the globe.
Raquel Galicia
Registration Assistant
Raquel, originally from the Philippines has been an Aglow leader in the Brussels Chapter in Belgium. She has recently stepped up to support the main Leadership. Raquel is astounded that God has transformed her life, reinforcing God’s greater plan for her and her family. Through Aglow she wants to encourage that God can do the same for others and to live in faith, love and hope and not miss an adventurous life with the Lord.
